Maëlle Gavet is the Chief Operating Officer of Compass, a technology-driven real estate platform. Named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, one of Fortune’s 40 Under 40 and one of the Most Creative People in Business by Fast Company, Gavet is an international leader with experience managing strategy and operations for some of the world’s largest technology companies. Before joining Compass, Gavet oversaw global operations at The Priceline Group where she was tasked with driving the company’s strategy and integrating its six major brands:,, KAYAK,, and OpenTable. Prior to The Priceline Group, Gavet was the chief executive officer of Russia’s largest e-commerce group, OZON, and a principal at The Boston Consulting Group where she served technology, media and telecommunications companies in Europe, India and South Africa.

We are only in the earliest stages of so-called algorithmic regulation – intelligent machines deploying big data, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to regulate human behaviour and enforce laws – but it already has profound implications for the relationship between private citizens and the state.
