On 8 October 2016, the world’s first Cybathlon took place in Zurich, Switzerland. The event, organised by ETH Zurich with NCCR Robotics as presenting sponsor, offered the opportunity for people with disabilities to work with technology providers to create solutions that would help them to complete a series of tasks of daily life.

Teams were invited to compete in one of six disciplines, BCI Race, FES Bike Race, Powered Arm Prosthesis Race, Powered Leg Prosthesis Race, Powered Exoskeleton Race and Powered Wheelchair Race and 400 contestants took part in one of the races.

If you weren’t able to attend the Cybathlon in person, or want a look back, this video from the organisers is the next best thing.
