John is professor of Biology and Cognitive Science at Vassar College. He also serves as Director of the Interdisciplinary Robotics Research Laboratory. John is associate editor of the Evolutionary Robotics specialty of the journal Frontiers in Robotics and AI and the journal Soft Robotics. He sits on the editorial board of the journal Bioinspiration and Biomimetics. John is author of Darwin's Devices: What Evolving Robots Can Teach Us About the History of Life and the Future of Technology (Basic Books).
