Nichola received his undergraduate degree in Mechatronics engineering from the University of Jordan in 2006. He worked as a research engineer in Jordan for three years before moving to Germany to pursue a masters degree in computer science with a focus on artificial intelligence and robotics. Since 2012, he has been pursuing his doctorate degree at the Autonomous Intelligent Systems group headed by Professor Wolfram Burgard. His PhD research focuses on robot learning from human demonstrations, active perception, and techniques for combining high-level and low-level planning. He recently completed an internship with the perception team of Google's self-driving car project in Mountain View, California.
