Baidu Leads in Artificial Intelligence Benchmark

Baidu Inc. says it has posted the world’s best results on a closely watched artificial intelligence benchmark. It had a secret weapon, according to researchers at the Chinese search giant: Minwa.

4.58% success on Image classification challenge – with Google and Microsoft also posting results better than 5%.

 

Ren Wu spoke today at the Embedded Vision Summit and says that Minwa is successful through hardware/software co-design, with highly optimized software stack. (RDMA/GPU Direct, New data partition and communication strategies). Minwa has 36 nodes, 144 GPUs, 6.9TB Host, 1.7TB Device capable of 0.6 PFLOPS.
