Robot uprising risk to be studied | BBC

The Terminator

The fear of a robot uprising, machines taking over the planet, an artificial intelligence waging war on humans is a recurring theme in popular culture such as the “Terminator” series pictured above.

Now researchers of the Centre for the Study of Existential Risk will conduct a study of the dangers posed by biotechnology, artificial life, nanotechnology and climate change.

The BBC reports:

[…] scientists said that to dismiss concerns of a potential robot uprising would be “dangerous”.
